The Paper Chase (1973) is a movie about the Harvard Law School experience. A movie about my graduate school experience at Syracuse University would be called The Food Chase (1992 to 1999). To get hired at a university, a candidate has to gain the approval of a department's tenured faculty. The on campus interview consist of a job talk about one’s research, numerous interviews, and meals with members of the search committee and often graduate students. Dinner with a candidate promised a rare meal of fine dining; this was like nirvana to me as a starving graduate student.
