Ethiopian Tea

People in precolonial Eastern Ethiopia knew of a plant that had extraordinary property. Unfortunately I don’t know the name the plant. Sources tell us that people made a powder from it and infused water with it and drank it like a tea. This dried unnamed plant allow one to subsist for days in a fasting like state without suffering the many problems associated with hunger. It makes me wonder are Ethiopian distant runners taping into ancient knowledge about edible plants?
