Naturopath Dr. Alvenia Fulton (1893-1999) was born in Tennessee in migrated to Chicago where she practiced. The following is a continuation of Dick Gregory's oral history about her that I share here in a paraphrased format when necessary to make them more relevant and accessible and as direct quotes as often as possible. Gregory said, the multi-trillion dollar health movement that we know today, Dr. Fulton had been a pioneer. Other pioneers in that movement respected her because of her knowledge of fasting. There came a time in her business selling herbal mixtures, vitamin, protein supplements, and books, that if she earned less than three thousand dollar a day in the 1980s, that had been a bad day for her, said Gregory.
