The them for last week and this week has been food and funerals. Today we cross the Atlantic to learn about traditions in precolonial Africa. Africans made animal and fish protein the main course more often than not on special occasions such as funeral, the birth of a child, the inauguration of a monarch, a weddings, military victory, a successful hunt and to celebrate a visitor. Africans used animal and fish proteins generally as way to season soups and stews.
