A friend and I joked about the pear and apple trees in area yards that produce more fruit than a family and even perhaps a neighborhood can consume. Here are some suggestions: give the fruit to a nearby food pantry dedicated to getting food to those in need; give the fruit to a neighbor who has a compost or start a compost; barter the fruit with an area micro brewer trading your fruit for some of their product.
