Maryland Food: You've Got to Try the Crab Cakes!

Let me close my discussion on my 84 Syracuse lacrosse team trip to Baltimore with a food thought. Following a morning workout, one afternoon Simmie took the team to the inner harbor for lunch and cut us loose with our food per diem. I went to Phillip’s Restaurant in the inner harbor. If you are in the Baltimore more area and you are a foodie, you must try the crab cakes. Here’s a good easy to make recipe: http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/crab_cakes/. Phillip’s and traditional restaurants in the area in general are famous for their seafood. Phillip’s for example had and still has a great all you can eat buffet that includes biscuits, corn bread, crab legs, fried fish, fried shrimp, fried oysters, scallops, crab bisque, and Maryland vegetable crab soup. The desserts are just as good with New York style cheesecake, chocolate layer cake, peach cobbler, and my favorite, pecan pie. Over the next couple of days I am going to take a break from lacrosse and talk about Thanksgiving Day food ideas. Most of what will write about and the recipes I’ve learned personally and while researching my book Hog and Hominy http://cup.columbia.edu/book/978-0-231-14638-8/hog-and-hominy/webFeatures.
